Why ‘Manifesting’ Is B.S. (And What Actually Works to Get You the Life You Want)
Stop Dreaming and Start Doing: The No-Nonsense Guide to Getting the Life You Want (Minus the Magic Wands and Fairy Dust)
Alright, let’s get one thing straight: if manifesting your dreams was as simple as staring at your vision board while burning incense and humming kumbaya, we’d all be sipping coconut water on a beach in Goa, with abs chiseled out of stone and bank accounts that rival Ambani’s. But spoiler alert: that’s not how it works. And if you’re still clutching your crystals and waiting for the universe to drop a Ferrari in your driveway, you might want to sit down, because I’m about to spill the chai on why that’s all a load of hot, steaming nonsense. Buckle up, because we’re diving headfirst into the messy truth about getting the life you actually want—no fairy dust required.
Why ‘Big Attracts Small’—The Physics Behind It All
First, let’s get a little scientific (but not too much because, honestly, who wants a headache). The whole idea of “like attracts like” in the manifestation world is cute, but it’s not grounded in reality. In physics, big attracts small. Look around: the sun doesn’t orbit the Earth; it’s the other way around. The larger mass pulls the smaller mass. And this is the law of attraction at its core.
Think of it like this: if you’re a tiny pebble of wishful thinking, sitting on your sofa with a bag of chips, hoping the universe will rain money down on you because you thought about it, you’re not going to attract squat. You’re the small trying to attract the big. Flip the script—be the sun, not the pebble. Become the larger force that draws opportunities toward you.
The ‘Action’ in Attraction
Manifesting is not about sitting on your backside and wishing. It’s about creating a magnetic pull so strong that opportunities can’t help but come your way. Earl Nightingale nailed it when he said, “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.” Notice the word progressive. It’s active, not passive. It’s movement. You’ve got to be in motion to attract what you want.
Imagine you’re in a crowded Chennai street, trying to catch an auto. Do you stand there, eyes closed, hoping one will come to you? Hell no. You get assertive, wave your hands, and maybe even shout a bit. You do what you’ve got to do to make that auto stop. That’s action, and that’s exactly what you need to do with your goals.
Step 1: Get Clear, Get Specific
Forget vague affirmations like “I want to be rich” or “I want happiness.” That’s like throwing darts blindfolded in a cyclone—you’re not hitting anything. Clarity is power. You’ve got to know exactly what you want, down to the last detail. Not “a job I love” but “a job where I make ₹20 lakhs a year, working remotely, with three-day weekends and a team that makes me laugh.”
Napoleon Hill, the godfather of practical self-help, put it perfectly in Think and Grow Rich: “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” But notice that ‘conceive’ part. Your mind can’t conceive fuzzy images—it needs specifics. Hill wasn’t sitting on a yoga mat chanting; he was drilling down into the nitty-gritty of his desires and backing them with belief.
Step 2: Plan, Then Act Like Your Life Depends On It
Let’s get real—plans without action are like Tinder matches that never turn into dates. All the potential, none of the results. Take your clear vision, break it down into actionable steps, and attack it like a South Indian aunty at a saree sale.
Think of it like launching a business. You wouldn’t say, “I want to open a chai shop,” and then expect a corner plot to magically materialize. You’d figure out what kind of chai, who your audience is, where your stall will be, how much you’ll charge, and then you’d hustle like your name is Dhirubhai Ambani. That’s how you get things done.
Step 3: Build Momentum
Ever seen a coconut vendor crack one open? It doesn’t happen on the first whack. It takes a few hits, and then it splits. Your dreams are the coconut, and your actions are the vendor’s knife. One or two hits won’t do it; you need persistence. Keep swinging.
Look, the biggest myth about success is that it’s about one big moment. It’s not. It’s about a series of small, consistent actions that compound over time. In The Master Key System, Charles F. Haanel talks about the power of consistent thought and action. It’s not the one-off; it’s the accumulation that makes the difference.
Earl Nightingale puts it in perspective: “We become what we think about most of the time, and that’s the strangest secret.” But it’s not just thinking; it’s consistent thinking, paired with consistent action, that transforms the average into the extraordinary.
Step 4: Get Gritty—Fall Down Seven Times, Get Up Eight
Now, here’s where most people lose it. They hit a roadblock, face a setback, and boom—they’re out. Done. Finished. But here’s a newsflash: setbacks are part of the process. They’re not roadblocks; they’re detours. Think of them as your personal GPS rerouting you to a better path.
What separates the top dogs from the rest is grit. The willingness to keep going when most people would give up. Failure isn’t fatal unless you let it be. And in the wise words of every Indian parent ever, “When one door closes, a hundred others open.” (Usually followed by, “Why didn’t you get an engineering degree?” but we’ll skip that part.)
Step 5: Surround Yourself with Winners
If you hang around five winners, you’ll be the sixth. If you hang around five losers, well, you get the picture. Your environment matters. Earl Nightingale called it the “strangest secret” for a reason—it’s strange how few people actually follow it.
You can’t soar with the eagles if you’re hanging out with turkeys. Create a circle that lifts you up, that challenges you, that keeps you accountable. Success is contagious, but so is mediocrity. Choose your tribe wisely.
Step 6: Practice Gratitude Like Your Life Depends On It
Here’s a little nugget that’s both woo-woo and practical: gratitude. No, I’m not saying to sit cross-legged and chant “thank you” like it’s some magic spell. I’m talking about real, hardcore, in-your-bones gratitude for the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Why? Because gratitude shifts your focus from lack to abundance. And when you’re operating from a place of abundance, you make decisions from a position of strength, not desperation. You become that big, attractive force pulling things into your orbit. Napoleon Hill was big on this—he knew that gratitude was the secret sauce that made all the other ingredients come together.
The Bottom Line: Manifestation Is Action, Not Magic
So, here’s the kicker. Manifesting isn’t about sitting around hoping the universe drops a new car into your driveway. It’s about becoming the person who deserves that new car. It’s about putting in the work, getting your hands dirty, and making things happen.
You don’t need to sell your soul, and you don’t need to chant affirmations until you’re blue in the face. What you need is clarity, action, persistence, and a community that has your back. That’s the recipe for getting the life you want.
Now go out there and be the damn sun, not the pebble. Flip the switch, turn the bulb on, and let’s make things happen.
And remember, no one ever got anywhere waiting for the stars to align. They aligned their own stars.
Cheers to making it happen!

P.S. If you're still sitting around waiting for the universe to send you a sign, here it is: STOP IT! Now get off your butt and make things happen. Manifestation can wait; the grind can’t! 🚀
Manifestation doesn't means everything will happen without your involvement.
You will be there doing the work, karma is the part you need to play. But once you believe and surrender the process, instead of doubting the journey, you won't even realise how will things happen. It would be smooth and effortless just like we drive a car after we have been driving for years.
You unconsciously do the right things and result show up automatically but you were driving, let's not forget that. 🙂
Todays learnings:
1. How big attracts small: Big made up on smalls. Isn't it bulb on.
Like casual saying from Parent to their kids, I have passed that age of high school and staying in hostels etc,.
As a adult we all have grown and accumulated the information and inspirations all by our senses.
2. If you are running out of ideas, then defeintely you need to hit the books and podcasts for upgrading.
3. When I reflect back on how my mindset been looking 10-15 years back, I realized knowledge is everything. Agree its how we bought up in the education system focusing on grading ssystem.
4. I was not specific what i want. The answer was simple, I didn't had clarity. Its a bulb on.
5. Takeaways: consistent thinking paired with consistent actions. Real bulb on moment as i didn't thought of an thinking as an action.
6. Point noted: Always surround with winners.
7. The real magic happens when we appreiciate what we have. Thank you Universe.
8. Grate Lines: "Be the Sun, not the pebble" - Expand your consciousness with inclusiveness not the ignorance.
